9/29/2023 Day of Atonement

Praise Yah, 9/29/2023 is the observation of Day of Atonement. The 10th Day of the 7th month, with the mandated fast beginning 9/28/2023.

Leviticus 23:23  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24  Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25  Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
26  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27  Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
28  And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29  For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
30  And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
31  Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32  It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

Upcoming Day of Atonement !

Shalom Fam! Just a reminder, tomorrow (9/28/2023)at even begins the fast portion of the Day of Atonement. The Day of Atonement is the only day in the year that we are required by Law to fast-no drink / no food. The fast is held on the 7th Hebrew month at even through the following day, the 10th day until evening (before nightfall). The actual Day of Atonement is on the 10th day of the 7th month – 9/29/2023.

Jubilees 34:

18 “. . . For this reason it is ordained for the children of Israel that they should afflict themselves on the tenth of the seventh month -on the day that the news which made him weep for Joseph came to Jacob his father- that they should make atonement for themselves thereon with a young goat on the tenth of the seventh month, once a year, for their sins; for they had grieved the

19 affection of their father regarding Joseph his son. And this day has been ordained that they should grieve thereon for their sins, and for all their transgressions and for all their errors, so that they

20 might cleanse themselves on that day once a year. . . “
