The Chronicles of NCCI

Psalms 19:7  The law of Yahweh is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of Yahweh is sure, making wise the simple.

New Year? Are you sure about that???

new year nopeWhy is it that this time of year, so many people greet each other, with the common saying, “happy new year”?  The issue is that January is NOT the beginning of the year!!!  I know, that sounds unbelievable, BUT it’s TRUE!

The beginning of the year falls between the months March and April and has been set that way since antiquity.  The true New Year occurs during the early springtime, when everything in nature grows new, as in a NEW YEAR!  The Most High God, YHWH (Yahweh) named the 1st month of the year, Abib.

Exodus 12:2  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Exodus 12:18  In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread …Exodus 23:15  Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib

If you follow ancient Roman history, it was then that, although the biblical calendar year had been followed for centuries upon centuries, the Roman emperor/Caesars chose to change the order the calendar year!  Daniel 7:25  And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws…

The Roman Caesars chose to honor Janus, their pagan god of Entrances and Exits / doors / etc.  to begin their new year.  The “tradition”(pagan practice) of making new year resolutions celebrates the pagan god Janus’ looking back in the past and into the future.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janus:  JANUS – In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (/ˈnəs/; Latin: Ianus, pronounced [ˈjaː.nus]) is the god of beginnings and transitions,[1] and thereby of gates, doors, doorways, passages and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he [Janus] looks to the future and to the past.

Long after the Caesars changed the order of the months many people still abided by the true calendar, recognizing the New Year in March/April.  It was those people who were wrongly called “April Fools”; but choosing NOT to believe in a lie doesn’t make one a fool.  But once a person knows better they can then do better, just call it, #not_a_january_fool !
